Factor V is a330.000 molecular weight single chain glycoprotein that is a key component of the coagulation system.Factor V is cleaved by alha-thrombin(Factor IIa) at multiple sites and converted to factorva. This cleavage releases two activation peptides with molecular weights of 71000D and 120000D, and results in a two-chain molecule with a molecular weight of 168,000: a 94000 molecular weight amino-terminal heavy chain and a 74000 molecular weight carboxy-terminal light chain that remain together  in the presence of calcium ions.
